Guangzhou Dijing Hotel—U-Shaped Steel Staircase
Located in Guangzhou, this high-end hotel emphasizes modern aesthetics and spatial texture. Within the open, airy atrium, this unique U-shaped steel staircase unfolds naturally. The multi-tiered U-shaped structure creates a spatial effect that tapers inward layer by layer, endowing the entire lobby with a distinctive spatial composition and visual depth.
The staircase features a warm off-white color scheme as its dominant tone. The most
visually striking element is the railing, composed of three layers of steel plates with rounded
edges and smooth curved transitions. This multi-layered design extends all the way to the side of
the base, creating a continuous, three-dimensional sense of layered enclosure along the entire side.
The stair treads are crafted from natural marble. Combined with concealed LED strips beneath the
steps, the light shines through, making the originally heavy and rigid steel structure appear
visually light and orderly, while lending the space a clean and sophisticated ambiance.
The technical challenge of this project lay in achieving the correct curvature after
stacking multiple layers of steel plates. To ensure the steel railing’s curvature fit seamlessly
along the sides and at the corners, the team performed precise positioning and layered installation
during the initial stages, followed by meticulous welding and repeated polishing of the joints. This
ultimately resulted in a layered finish with rounded edges and smooth, natural transitions. At the
same time, the surface spraying of the large-area off-white finish required great skill; the sprayed
steel plates feature a uniform and delicate luster, which, when paired with the step lighting
strips, creates a warm and three-dimensional interplay of light and shadow.
