W Hotel Changsha—Futuristic Spiral Staircase
The staircase design draws inspiration from Changsha’s nickname, “City of Stars,” incorporating themes of cosmic fantasy and interstellar travel. Its spiraling form resembles a surging wave, and walking along it feels like a spacewalk, echoing the hotel’s overall “Star Sand Universe” spatial narrative.
The entire spiral staircase features a steel structure as its main framework, with
openwork treads paired with box-shaped stringers, combined with laminated glass railings and stone
slab cladding. The gray stringers, complemented by ambient lighting strips, blend seamlessly with
the overall spatial atmosphere, creating a stylish, high-tech aesthetic.
The stone slab treads embody the texture of the “Stardust Universe”; each step is as
solid as the surface of a celestial body, evoking a sense of exploration. The openwork construction
allows light to pass through freely, giving the staircase a floating, ethereal, and futuristic feel;
the spiraling arc traces a dynamic trajectory reminiscent of an interstellar orbit, transforming the
act of walking up the stairs into an immersive spatial experience.
The stair stringers and landing side panels share a consistent color palette, creating
a seamless visual unity; color-changing LED strips in the same hue flow along the edges of the
structure, with shifting light and shadow patterns echoing the “Stardust Universe” theme. The
open-work treads allow light to pass through, expanding the visual sense of space—making it feel as
though one is walking through interstellar dust.
