Sanya Manwan — Custom Steel Staircase
A custom cantilevered steel staircase for the reception hall at Manwan, Sanya Clearwater Bay. The interior is contemporary and quietly luxurious — the staircase carries that same quality: structural, precise, and at ease in the space it occupies.


The main steel structure and steel balustrades on both sides are finished together in a single metallic paint application. LED strips are recessed into the top of the balustrade. Stone treads with anti-slip nosings. Clean lines, no excess.

The structure is fully cantilevered — fixed at one end, free at the other. All loads are taken at the fixed support and transferred through the steel. The form is a multi-turn folded return — an irregular geometry that the cantilevered steel system carries without visible effort, while meeting standard load requirements for daily use.
The multi-turn layout works with the reception hall's interior dimensions, distributing the rise across several runs to keep the gradient comfortable. The result is a staircase that moves through the space rather than simply occupying it — the folded geometry makes sense as you walk it.
