Huawei in Bantian, Shenzhen—Panoramic Spiral Staircase
The project is located inside an office building in Bantian, Shenzhen. In the sun-drenched, double-height lobby, this panoramic spiral staircase winds its way upward. The interplay of transparent glass and natural light creates an ideal atmosphere for visitors to pause and take in the view.
The staircase’s main structure is made of steel, giving it an overall sense of
lightness. The white outer rim outlines clean, crisp lines, while the steps are accented with
natural wood-colored veneer that echoes the warm tones of the walls. Following the curve upward, the
small-radius curved steel-and-glass sections that connect the upper and lower levels form delicate,
transparent curves. Paired with slender wooden handrails, the design appears exceptionally light and
airy.
The project is constructed using high-strength carbon steel, with both the inner and
outer arcs meticulously machined and verified. This ensures structural integrity while effectively
showcasing the staircase’s graceful form. For the small-radius curved steel-and-glass sections, the
team strictly controlled the curvature during fabrication and installation to ensure a tight fit
between the glass railings and steel channels, ultimately achieving a seamless and smooth connection
between the glass elements.
