Nanjing Haiyue Mingdu — All-Glass Spiral Staircase
A custom floating all-glass spiral staircase for a private villa in Nanjing Haiyue Mingdu. The interior follows a clean, understated residential aesthetic. The staircase was specified to match: fully transparent, minimal in presence, and distinctive enough to become the defining feature of the home.

Wall-mounted, open-riser glass treads, with the staircase occupying a compact footprint. Concealed LED strips run along the tread edges — when lit, they produce a soft, graduated glow that builds layer by layer up the stair. Both treads and balustrades are multi-layer ultra-clear tempered laminated glass, with reliable impact resistance and structural safety

In a villa interior where space is considered, an all-glass staircase removes visual mass without removing presence. Light passes through; sightlines stay open; the room feels larger than it is. The staircase connects to the wall via concealed stainless steel anchors — hidden installation, no exposed fixings, no interruption to the surface.
The site had a structural column in close proximity to the staircase opening. The design team surveyed on site, refined the drawings accordingly, and adjusted the fabrication to work precisely within the constraints — the finished staircase sits exactly where it needs to, with no visible compromise.
