Hefei Art Museum — Steel Spiral Staircase
Inside the lobby of Hefei Art Museum, a steel spiral staircase connects three levels. A deep black curved shell against warm timber treads — hard and soft materials in deliberate contrast, giving the museum's public space a strong architectural presence.

A single-skin steel shell spirals upward, paired with a handrail in the same tonal family. Viewed from below or above, the continuous spiral creates a strong sense of vertical depth.

The load is carried entirely by the steel shell structure — a continuous curved steel plate, formed without seams or breaks. In a lobby with generous natural light, the hard lines of the steel sit naturally alongside the museum's own architectural character. Functional and exhibition-quality at the same time.
