Jinan Huahao — Red Steel Spiral Staircase
Inside the lobby of Jinan Huahao Sales Center, a red cantilevered spiral staircase commands the room. The continuous spiral adds depth and movement to the atrium, a strong visual element from every angle.


Red and white — the two tones run through the whole staircase. The base is steel, clad externally with aluminum panels finished in matte red paint, with a custom flared base detail where the staircase meets the floor. Treads are marble; the handrail is upholstered in white leather. Hard materials and soft, cool and warm, each sharpening the other.

The exterior cladding and handrail material were both custom-specified to suit the design intent and the demands of a curved surface. Aluminum was chosen for its low weight and its ability to follow the staircase's continuous arc without fighting it. The leather handrail replaces a conventional hard rail — noticeably more comfortable to grip, across every season.
Continuous spiral cladding sets precise demands on fabrication, site layout, and curved panel joinery. The curved steel structure experience carried the project through — controlling the arc, managing the junctions, and delivering a finished result inside a high-specification sales center interior.
