Previously, Tongrui Industrial had been exploring the field of staircases combining steel structures with glass—using metal as the framework and glass as the components for the treads and handrails. The Guangzhou Flower Love Hotel project marked a turning point for Tongrui, as it transitioned from steel-and-glass combinations to all-glass spiral staircases.

Located in Wanqingsha Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou, the project is a flower-themed hotel. The design team proposed constructing an all-glass spiral staircase in the center of the lobby—one without a separate steel framework, where the core load-bearing capacity would also come from the glass, making the glass itself the primary structural element. At that time, only a handful of companies in China were capable of achieving this.

This staircase features an all-glass central-column spiral structure, with the central glass column bearing the primary load and the treads cantilevering outward from both sides. “All-glass” means that the glass itself serves as the primary load-bearing element. The core design challenge lay in ensuring that each piece of glass bore the load uniformly, thereby preventing safety hazards caused by uneven load distribution.

The team conducted repeated calculations and verifications regarding the cross-sectional dimensions of the glass components, the number of laminated layers, and the load transfer paths to ensure that the forces acting on the glass under operational conditions remained within reasonable limits. At the same time, they used hardware fittings to connect all components into a single, integrated structure, ultimately bringing this all-glass staircase to fruition.

The “Flower Love” project marks a significant milestone for Tongrui Industrial in the evolution of its all-glass staircase craftsmanship. From early steel-framed glass staircases, to all-glass staircases with central columns, and now to cantilevered all-glass staircases, Tongrui Industrial’s craftsmanship in this field has become increasingly sophisticated. The company has now emerged as a leading staircase manufacturer in China with mastery of the complete fabrication and installation process for curved all-glass staircases.
